Marcielle is a 13-year-old girl who lives in a riverside community on Marajó Island, in Pará, with her father, mother, and three siblings. Influenced by her mother’s words, she idolizes the image of her older sister, Claudinha, who supposedly left to live far away after “finding a good man” on the passing ferries. As she matures, Marcielle sees many of her idealizations crumble and finds herself trapped between two abusive environments. Aware that the future offers her few options, she decides to confront the violent system that governs her family and the women in her community.
