In 1949, Lebanon faces an imminent war. Two Catholic siblings, Emilie and Emir, set sail for Brazil in search of a better life. During the journey, Emilie falls in love with Omar, a Muslim merchant. Consumed by jealousy, Emir tries to separate the couple, constantly emphasizing their religious differences. As they approach their final destination, the men get into a fight, and Emir is injured. Emilie’s only option is to disembark in an indigenous village deep in the forest to find a cure for her brother. Once he recovers, they continue to Manaus, where Emilie will make a decision that leads to tragic consequences. Addressing themes like memory, passion, and prejudice, the film portrays the saga of Lebanese immigrants in northern Brazil.
