The documentary portrays the unconditional friendship of Jorge Amado, Dorival Caymmi, and Carybé, artists who were largely responsible for creating the imagery of “baianidade” that persists to this day. The three believed that the strength of their works laid in documenting what they observed in the streets: the resilience of the Candomblé people, the power of women, and the omnipresence of the sea. Jorge’s books, Caymmi’s songs, and Carybé’s paintings and sculptures consolidated a way of being in the world for the people of Bahia and influenced the generations of artists that followed.
