In Colombia, Georgina Epiayu, a trans woman from the Wayúu ethnic group, tries to obtain her identification card. She once had documents in her former name but lost them when her house was set on fire —her neighbors did not accept that a trans Indigenous woman lived in the same territory as they did. After this attack, Georgina feels even more determined to have her true identity recognized. Only with her documents corrected by the Colombian authorities can she exercise a fundamental right of every citizen: the right to vote in elections.
Presented in the Giornate degli Autori at the Venice International Film Festival, it won the Queer Lion.
