In this docudrama, Melrick, a 13-year-old boy, spends his summer vacation with his grandmother Nicole in Cayenne, French Guiana. The boy’s presence —who dreams of playing the drums— brings back the memory of Lucas, Nicole’s son, who also had a passion for the instrument and tragically died 11 years ago. Amid the grief that haunts his family and Lucas’s best friend’s desire for revenge, Melrick seeks his own path to forgiveness.
Winner of the special jury prize in the Filmmakers of the Present section at the Locarno Festival. At the same event, the film also received a special mention in the first feature competition.
