Bangarang is a Jamaican word meaning tumult, disorder, chaos. Children can be noisy, playful, restless, free, reckless, and violent. They are like this in Taranto as well, an industrial city in southern Italy, known for its massive steel mill, operating since the 1960s. The documentary delves into the world of childhood while simultaneously portraying the present and reality of this place, the scene of one of the most serious environmental and health disasters in Italian and European history.
Winner of the special jury prize of the Panorama Italia section at the Rome Film Festival.
