Born in Aarberg, Switzerland, in 1982. Silvan studied philosophy, film and German philology at the universities of Bern and Zurich. He took a degree in film production at the German Film and Television Academy Berlin. With his brother Ramon, he directed The Strange Little Cat (2013), which premiered at the Berlinale and has won several international awards. The Girl and the Spider is the second feature film of the two.
