Born in 1984 and grew up between Rome and New York. He studied at New York University Tisch School of the Arts graduate film program, where he made his first short films, which received awards at Cannes and Venice film festivals. Carpignano made the feature films Mediterranea (2015) and A Ciambra (2017), both presented at Cannes. A Chiara brings the trilogy to an end in the Calabrian town of Gioia Tauro, Italy, where his three feature films were shot.
