Hollands Licht (2003)
Sobre o filme
A documentary on light in Holland. Is Dutch light unique or is this a myth? It is celebrated in works of art by painters such as Van Gogh, Jacob van Ruisdael, and Johannes Vermeer. During the nineteenth century, artists Manet, Liebermann, Whistler, Boudin, and Fromentin went to Holland to see the paintings from the seventeenth century and the landscape in the country. To German Joseph Beuys, however, as from the fifties, Dutch light lost its brilliance. Several artists, historians and scientists from a variety of countries have debated on the fundamentals of the Beuys theory. What is Dutch light? Would it have a unique aspect and real significance in art and in science? Is it possible that the light, in fact, has lost its shine? Dutch light is a film on this unique phenomenon.
