A recording of the director’s homonymous stage production at the Avignon Festival, adapted from the book The Jewish War, written by historian Flavius Josephus (1st century AD). This document recounts how the Hebrew state lost its sovereignty at the end of a war with the Romans, marked by the taking of Jerusalem, the destruction of the Temple, and the fall of Masada. In this staging at the Boulbon quarry, a mineral site in south Avignon, Jeanne Moreau sits at a table and takes on the role of the writer. She is accompanied by actors who play characters from the book in this lyrical and political meditation on the present-day Middle East.
