Um Passaporte Húngaro (2002)

Sobre o filme

Director Sandra Kogut is from a Jewish family of Hungarian descent. She recorded all of the stages in the odyssey to obtain Hungarian nationality. The investigation that she has undertaken to find out whether her story can ensure her a new nationality proves most revealing as to her family and the history of Hungarian immigration to Brazil. The film maker begins by applying for a passport at the Hungarian Embassy in France. She copes with the enormous bureaucracy in registry offices and archives, and is then obliged to take a test in the Hungarian language and a test on general knowledge concerning Hungary. Building her identity must necessarily pass through the weight of the documents, and also, through the preservation of memory.
