In a village in Afghanistan, a girl is sentenced to death. But the execution is not carried out: a religious principle holds that virgins can not be executed because they will go to paradise. The spiritual leader of the community finds an answer to the deadlock by marrying her off to the one who is to be her executioner who, in turn, finds himself in a complex, moral dilemma. The film displeased Iranian authorities, to the extent that they confiscated the negative. But the director had a good deal of the material copied on digital video, which allowed him to complete the film.
