Rio de Jano (2003)

Sobre o filme

At the end of the year 2000, French designer Jano visited Rio de Janeiro to create one more of his travel notebooks. In the fifty days he stayed in the city, he went deep into the reality in Rio. He went to places that are not on the postcards, talked to people from every social class. Each drawing in the album can be seen like a chronicle on the mode of being of a contemporary resident of Rio, social criticism with humor, the portrait of a city at once beautiful and poor, happy and violent. The film presents the task of completion of the book in Paris and shows an introspective artist concentrating on accomplishing a task. "It was amusing to see that he had already lost the touch of sun he acquired here. Rio is a city that is much more vibrant, and this reflected on his behavior. Jano felt at home, he seemed more like a person from Rio. In Paris, he took on the old Parisian air, more introspective and unsmiling", says Eduardo Souza Lima.
