A reflection of the film maker?s passion for cars. In his youth he took part in car races, including in Brazil. The film tells of an attempt to manufacture a new model of Ford in the city of Porto. The model was specially created by Eduardo Ferreirinha, Ed, and was to be named the Edfor after him. Ferreirinha was the designer for three racing cars Manoel de Oliveira competed with, and he brought out this new car using a Ford engine, a modified chassis, and bodywork of his own design. Oliveira actually won a race in one of these cars in 1938, the II Rampa do Gradil.
