Paris, Je T’aime (2006)

Sobre o filme

A challenge proposed to 21 directors worldwide - to tell the story of a romantic encounter in Paris - resulted in a feature Paris, Je T?Aime. Although it has always provided inspiration for cinema, Paris does not live only for its past. The starting point to the filmmakers involved in the project, was to film the French capital in 2006, in search of unknown aspects not yet shown on a giant screen and away from the postcard images. Paris, Je T?Aime portrays the mix of social classes, generations, cultures, and atmospheres. The directors, in their majority foreign, capture the Parisian reality and, also, the enchantment they feel visiting the city. Curiosity makes them discover new angles of the city that would not be explored by those living there. In Paris, love is everywhere. In bars and cafés, beneath the Eiffel Tower, in the subway. In Paris, Je T?Aime, the city is seen as has never before been imagined. Producers Claudie Ossard and Emmanuel Benbihy had the participation of directors: Walter Salles and Daniela Thomas (Loin du 16e), Olivier Assayas (Quartier des Enfants Rouges), Frédéric Auburtin and Gérard Depardieu (Quartier Latin), Gurinder Chadha (Quais de Seine), Sylvain Chomet (Tour Eiffel), Joel and Ethan Coen (Tuileries), Isabel Coixet (Bastille), Wes Craven (Père-Lachase), Alfonso Cuaron (Parc Monceau), Christopher Doyle (Porte de Choisy), Richard LaGravenese (Pigalle), Vincenzo Natali (Quartier de la Madeleine), Alexander Payne (14e arrondissement), Bruno Podalydès (Montmartre), Oliver Schmitz (Place de Fêtes), Nobuhiro Suwa (Place des Victoires), Tom Tykwer (Faubourg Saint-Denis) and Gus Van Sant (Les Marais). Brazilians Walter Salles and Daniela Thomas tell the story of a Latin-American immigrant (Catalina Sandino Moreno, from Maria Full of Grace, shown at the 28th Mostra) who leaves her baby in the suburbs to take care of another baby, born into a wealthy family. Brothers Joel and Ethan Coen describe an American tourist hostilized by a French couple in the subway station. Tom Tykwer shows an end to a relationship between a beautiful young actress and her blind boyfriend, and Alexander Payne brings the film to a close with the story of an American tourist who speaks French, and discovers Paris and her self-esteem.
