The Night Buffalo (2007)

Sobre o filme

Gregorio is a schizophrenic young man, age 22, with two great loves of his own: his girlfriend Tania and his best friend Manuel, the person he most trusts. With Gregorio in and out of psychiatric hospitals, Manuel and Tania begin secretly to meet. She decides to break it off with Gregorio and date Manuel instead. The friendship between Manuel and Gregorio is brusquely terminated. Times later, the doctors discharge Gregorio from hospital. In an attempt to be reconciled with Gregorio, Manuel visits him. They embrace with affection. There seems to be a reconciliation. Two days later, however, Gregorio commits suicide with a shot through the head. Stricken with guilt and anguish, Manuel and Tania descend to the abyss of madness and despair. Days after the tragedy, Manuel receives a box left by Gregorio containing letters, photographs and messages in code. As he uncovers secrets, Manuel discovers a truth that leads the couple to the same obscure territories Gregorio inhabited. Lost, Manuel tries to find the sense to life and finds it when he becomes aware of the importance of love. The script is by the director in partnership with producer Guillermo Arriaga (script writer for Babel, shown at the 30th Mostra).
