The Kite (2003)

Sobre o filme

Lamia, a girl of 16, lives in a small village in the south of the Lebanon on the frontiers of Israel. The family decide they will marry her off, much against her will, to a cousin, Sammy, who lives on the other side of the border, in a city annexed by Israel. She leaves behind her a younger brother, her mother, her school, and her kite. On her wedding day, dressed as a bride, Lamia crosses the border control and the barbed wire barriers, that also implies the passage into adulthood, as brutal as the events that are to follow. The film was awarded the Silver Lion at the Venice Festival.
