The Shining (1980)

Sobre o filme

"Writer Jack Torrance gets a new job as the winter caretaker of the Overlook Hotel. Bringing his wife, Wendy, and young son, Danny, to live with him in the isolated building, he soon learns of the previous caretaker’s descent into insanity, killing his entire family as well as himself. Jack spends his time writing while the outside is covered with snow. It soon becomes apparent that Danny possesses psychic abilities, allowing him to see things that others cannot. The three of them are not alone. Based on the novel by Stephen King. It’s a ghost film – how wonderful – nothing has to be right and the ghostly fantasies of a child can break loose. “How come Jack Torrance has been the caretaker in 1921?” Because it’s a ghost film and nothing makes any sense anyway. But it allows speculations about deep hidden meanings and Stanley would have been most surprised by many of the interpretations. "
