From the cradle, Ernesto has always deceived people. He learned the technique for pulling a fast one with Manco, a seasoned swindler. His victims are invariably the foolish, people of no instruction, so that his gains are few. After some time Manco introduces Ernesto to Federico, a well-dressed, astute, and methodical thief, regarded as the best in his class. The majority of citizens are in debt with banks and pay very high taxes, while Ernesto robs bankers, politicians, and generals. All goes well until Pilar (Victoria Abril), Federico?s former mistress and partner, makes a sudden appearance to suggest a partnership with her former lover, in a grand scheme.
