Bob Marley, who died more than 20 years ago, was at the heart of the rasta movement, held a crusade against Apartheid, revealed himself to be a great advocate of the struggle for independence in Zimbabwe and was an example for the international black community. On February 2005, a massive celebration of Bob Marley’ 60th birthday took place in the capital city of Addis Abeba, Ethiopia. Three generations of Marleys took part in a 12-hour concert attended by more than 300,000 people, including admirers, musicians and activists from around the world, with the ultimate purpose of inspiring the young generations of Africa to unite for the future of their continent. Besides the exuberant on-stage spots as well as a soundtrack brimming with Bob Marley studio classics, the feature film listend to many young admirers and includes appearances by UNICEF Goodwill Ambassador actor Danny Glover, world music sensation and UNICEF Goodwill Ambassador Angélique Kidjo, Bob Marley’ mother Mrs. Booker and Princess Mary, granddaughter of Emperor Haile Selassie.
